I have tried to quit drawing Rodin, but I just can’t. His drawings reveal an artist incredibly prolific and talented, constantly experimenting, searching new ways of representing the human figure, as we have seen in the two previous sessions dedicated to his drawings of nudes and to the Dancers of the Cambodian Ballet.

For this session of “Drawing with…”, I have found a few more, very compelling drawings, executed in graphite and water media washes. Like for the previous sessions, we will be copying a few of his works, about 4 or 5, a great occasion to practice drawing quick, expressive artworks and appreciate the results of his great creative mind.

Materials:

White, off white and brown or gray mid-value toned paper (about as dark as a brown paper bag).

Graphite pencils (B-2B), pen and brown or black ink, a few watercolors: ultramarine blue, red earth, alizarine crimson, black, yellow ochre. A round watercolor brush #8 or 10, either synthetic or natural sable. One last thing: white gouache, possibly titanium.
