Drawing with Monet & Matisse: from Impressionism to Modernism

The passage from the 19th to the 20th century, was a moment of great creative ferment and revolutionary change in the Art world.

The drawings we will copy in this session of Drawing with, will permit us to appreciate the radical changes that happened in just a few decades in Art and were created by Claude Monet, the founder of Impressionism, and by Henry Matisse, the great post-Impressionist, Fauvist, Modernist (et cetera et cetera) painter and sculptor.

The drawings are both portraits, Monet’s is executed in red chalk and charcoal with a very traditional technique and realistic rendering of the subject. Matisse’s work is in charcoal, the face of the sitter is stylized, may be influenced by the aesthetics of Primitivism, executed with fluid but bold charcoal strokes.

Join me, Wednesday November 9, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, for this Zoom session of drawing and creativity.

The session is will be recorded, and, as usual, the recording will be added to your New Renaissance Atelier Video library for you to watch as many times as you want.
