Stereometry: Box Figures in Action

This online course is dedicated to the stereometric rendering of the human figure. Stereometry has been around since the Renaissance and it is a very efficient way to study the proportions an volumes of the human body.

During the 6 weeks of the duration of the course, we will practice drawing the human figure as essential volumes at first at rest, then in dynamic poses and in narrative compositions, using famous artworks as a reference and from imagination.

Knowing how to properly draw box figures, is essential for the figurative artist that wants to draw proportioned human figures, understand its volumetric characteristics and refine the effect of the light and shadow on the human body. This is also a great method to capture its expressive and dynamic qualities and prepare compositional studies. It is also one of the essential steps in the study of Human Anatomy.
