Daniel Garber and Thomas Anshutz will be the artists featured in this session of Drawing with….

The artworks we will be working from are two copies of Casts, probably the same ones that still today can be found at the Pennsylvania Academy of the fine arts, and are still used for cast drawing by the new generation of artists that follow the traditional Academyc training methods.

Join me, on Tuesday, March 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, to practice the sublime techique of these two fantastic draftsmen.

Materials:

  • Drawing paper: a couple of sheets of lightly toned drawing paper, tan or gray. You can also stain a sheet of hot press watercolor paper with coffee or brown ink or watercolor.
  • Charcoal sticks in medium and soft gradation.
  • Red earth, black and white chalk (General’s) or Conte-Cretacolor crayons. You can also use colored pencils in the same colors
  • Erasers and pencil sharpeners

Formally trained as a medical illustrator before becoming a fine artist, Osti has contributed his work to many science and art publications. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Europe and the United States. He is the author of Basic Human Anatomy (2016), an art instruction best seller and classic reference book. His latest book , Dynamic Human Anatomy has been released in March 2021.
