Watercolor Foundation Evening

Watercolor can be a very rewarding technique but in order to obtain fresh and expressive paintings, one should become acquainted with its fundamentals: washes, gradations, glazes, wet on wet, wet on dry, drybrush, materials. This course is designed to give a strong technical foundation to the artist that wants to seriously pursue watercolor.

During the course of this 6-week course, the students will practice a variety of watercolor techniques, study color theory with specific exercises, practice with different types of paper and other materials, learn how to properly mount a piece of watercolor sheet of paper on a rigid support to avoid buckling, practice washes, glazes, blending colors, gradations, textures and more. All these techniques will be used to create a variety of watercolor paintings: landscapes, still life, botanical subjects.

The recorded Zoom sessions will be available to the students for the duration of one month after the end of the workshop to permit the students to keep practicing and review the many notions discussed during this intense workshop.
