New Renaissance Atelier Academic Plan 2022 – Anatomy Core
The anatomy core is comprised of 3 courses: Essential Anatomy, Advanced Anatomy, Dynamic Anatomy. These courses will give you a solid knowledge of the Human Anatomy applied to the practice of Figure Drawing.
The students can take all three courses, possibly sequentially, or just those that they need.
Essential Anatomy
Wednesdays, 6 Lessons
Jan 19 - Feb 23 6-9 PM EST
This Human Anatomy overview course, is specifically directed toward the needs of the artist that wants to reach the next level when drawing the figure accurately: all the anatomical and structural aspects of the Human body studied in this course, will be directly linked to the practice of Figure Drawing.
The topics discussed will be: proportion, skeletal structure, landmarks of the body, superficial anatomy, external forms. All these topics will be integrated with drawing techniques and figure drawing sessions from photographic references.
This course can be of interest to the artist that needs to have a complete but essential overview of the human anatomy or a good starting point upon which eventually develop the study of the human anatomy in depth with more specific courses, finally it can be of interest to the student that already has experience in anatomy but needs a refresher or just practice more Figure Anatomy and Figure Drawing.

Wednesdays, 6 Lessons
April - May Dates TBD
In this Course, the Students will learn to look at the figure with an inquisitive approach, looking for landmarks, understanding the typical proportions of the human body and its structural characteristics, with the final goal of creating more convincing figure drawings, with lines informed by a deep understanding of the human body.
At the beginning of the Course, I will discuss anatomical, structural and aesthetic aspects of the human figure with about 1 hour long drawing demonstration and comparisons with the live model.
The students will be drawing along with me during these demos that will be followed by about 18 hours of figure drawing sessions, during which the students will apply the notions discussed at the beginning of class, to the practice of figure drawing, preparing a number of artworks and trying various drawing and measuring techniques.
Open to all skill levels
