Open Drawing Session #14: Drawing the Torso.

The male and female torso will be the subject of this new series of Open Drawing Sessions. In this first class, we will study and compare the male and female ribcage and pelvis from the front view to understand their specific structural and anatomical characteristics.

In following classes, we will discuss the muscles of the torso and the external volumes and practice tonal rendering. This series dedicated to the torso, follows the same progressive and comprehensive approach used for the previous ODS series dedicated to the legs.

Materials: Good quality drawing paper such as Strathmore Drawing series 400, about 11by 14. Pencils: HB, B; Colored pencils: red earth (Venetian or Indian red or Burnt Sienna), blue and black. Erasers and pencil sharpeners.
